Bug#532464: impress: presentation with dualhead on KDE with installed ooo-gtk results in hanging process

Package: openoffice.org-impress
Version: 1:3.1.0-4
Severity: normal

Hello,

when you are runing KDE as desktop, using two monitors in a dualhead setup,
have openoffice.org-gtk installed and want to start a presentation then
OOo impress creates two sidebars (bottom and left) but not a working window
or the presentation. If you have the edit windows of impress on the other
monitor then you still can edit or close impress without problems.

Starting impress and reproducing the problem from the console show the following:

** (soffice:3893): WARNING **: Inhibit method failed

** (soffice:3893): WARNING **: Inhibit problem : The name org.gnome.ScreenSaver was not provided by any .service files

I can reproduce this on lenny (kde 3.5.x, OOo 3.1) and sid (kde 4.2.4, OOo 3.1.0-4).

A pointer I found in the internet is (sorry german only but I know will you understand it;)):
http://forum.archlinux.de/?page=Postings;id=20;thread=11175

Starting impress from the console as mentioned there the problem (and the warnings)
does not occur:

OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde ooimpress

removing the package openoffice.org-gtk helps to fix the problem, too, but if you
want to offer kde and gnome for users then -gtk is wanted.

When using gnome as desktop enviroment impress works as expected in the described
scenario.

I hope the problem is clear and reproducible as described.

Regards.
