No. There is a reason this is a external package. Besides that, just depending
on it won't help ..

doesn't want to use OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome)?

No.

(BTW, the default install installs GNOME *and* -gnome (which installs -gtk).

You don't want to force -gtk on anyone, and you don't want to exclude
some WMs either per se.
