Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1.1.3-4
Severity: important

There is HP LaserJet 4L on FreeBSD CUPS 1.1.22 server and CUPS 1.1.21/23
on several Debian
workstations. The PPD on the server defines A4 as the only supported by
the printer
page size. In /etc/openoffice/psprint.conf there is PPD_PageSize=A4 in both
[__Global_Printer_Defaults__] and [Generic Printer]. Same is repeated for
~/.openoffice/1.1.3/user/psprint/psprint.conf.

In this situation Writer and Calc are sending US Letter pages to the
printer, causing
it to hang with "PC Load Letter" error message. Switching size to A4 from
the print dialog
properties window does not work. Switching from Printer settings and then
printing sometimes
works.

On older Debian machines with CUPS 1.1.21 after replacing
"Printer=SGENPRT/Generic Printer"
with "Printer=<ppd with A4 pagesize only>/Generic Printer" in
/etc/openoffice/psprint.conf
[Generic Printer] section OOo stops to send Letter pages to CUPS printers.
Until now i found
no solution with CUPS 1.1.23.

All other programs work fine.

Another problem with OOo and CUPS 1.1.23 is that when CUPS is working all
printers defined in
~/.openoffice/1.1.3/user/psprint/psprint.conf (or by oopadmin) are hidden,
so there is no way
to use external command to solve the problem.
