Package: openoffice.org-calc
Version: 2.0.4.dfsg.2-2
Severity: normal

When I install Calc apt (or synaptic) also installs gcc-3.4-base, when I
remove gcc (by the way, I have gcc-4.1 installed) calc is being removed
too. Why does not calc use gcc-4.1 ?

Not a bug at all.

And if you would have looked at what gcc-3.4-base is it's just a tiny package and doesn't contain
any compiler itself.

OOo depends on it because it depends on libufsparse which depends on some fortran libraries which are linked
against fortran77 libraries which - as you might guess - come from gcc-3.4. And that lib depends on gcc-3.4-base.
