Problem with Debian Testing -- Again, Ctrl-c the culprit?

Group,

I've sent this problem to the list in the past, and have included a
previous message below.

I'm running OOo 1.1.3 on Debian GNU/Linux (testing). When I try to open
OOo, by issuing openoffice from a terminal, it get:

  # openoffice
  OpenOffice.org lockfile found (/home/steve/.openoffice/1.1.3/.lock)
    Using existing OpenOffice.org

I think that I know what happened. Running OOo previously, I didn't
quit with File > Quit; I issued Ctrl-c in the terminal window used to
start OOo. This Ctrl-c made OOo hang. Restarting X windows, and trying
to restart OOo, I get the above problem.

I don't know how to fix this. In the past I've tried to remove the
~/.openoffice directory and all that (see
http://elsteve.com/usageNotes.html#015b for more), but the only thing
that has solved this is time. OOo seems to reset itself and work the
next time the Debian team provides a new release...

Does anyone know if OOo typically hangs with a Ctrl-c (I wouldn't
recommend testing it yourself!). Possibly this isn't good practice, but
I know other graphical programs (the GIMP) can hand this operation.
Is this a bug?

Thanks,
Steve
