Looks like building with the system python is now in faq question 8
which just contains a link to 
http://udk.openoffice.org/python/python-bridge.html#replacing

This mentions what to replace in an office installation that already
comes with python to use the system python installation instead of the
open office one. Would be interesting to know if all necessary files
are already in the current debian package so that with this guide it
should be possible to include the system python into OOo.
