Bug#254553: openoffice fails to start

How to Reproduce this bug:
1. Install cups.
2. Install oo.org
3. Remove cups/stop cups from starting on boot.
4. OO.org doesn't work anymore. It hangs on opening any file as well as 
on creation of any new file.

I have this problem currently and I don't want to use cups anymore, so 
my oo.org is currently broken. I should be able to remove cups and still 
have oo.org work. Any ideas how to make this happen?

Editing /etc/cups/client.conf did NOT fix the bug for me, because I'm 
not using cups anymore.
