It crashes on my i386 machine too (although I'm using it headless, and
the X display goes to my powerpc laptop via ssh):

Version: 1.0.3-2

-- System Information:
Debian Release: testing/unstable
Architecture: i386
Kernel: Linux eugene 2.4.21 #2 Fri Jun 27 15:58:56 CEST 2003 i686
Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C

Versions of packages openoffice.org depends on:
ii openoffice.org-bin 1.0.3-2 OpenOffice.org office suite binary
ii openoffice.org-debian-files 1.0.3-2+1 Debian specific parts of OpenOffic
ii openoffice.org-l10n-en 1.0.3-2 English (US) language package for

This might be of interest:

I also tried a regular cut and past from an rxvt into the word
processor, and it doesn't crash, but tells me, via an info window:

Requested clipboard format is not available.

Do you use gnome or kde? Maybe that affects clipboard mechanisms? No
idea really, just a wild conjecture.
