Bug#172448: openoffice.org: Menu fonts disappeared after recent apt-get update

Followed instructions regarding fonts.

Setup program now has visible fonts.

OpenOffice Writer still shows no fonts.

I've deleted and purged all packages, reinstalled, rerun the setup
druid.

I removed all extra fonts on my system, resulting in a very ugly
desktop.

When I remove TrueType fonts, and clean out the directories, and run
xftcache, restart X, Fonts are visible in OOPadmin and OOsetup, but not
Office Writer (or Draw which I tested just to see if it was one
particular program)

I've removed and reinstalled defoma, every font configuration. My
current XF86Config-4 contains:

Section "Files"
        FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/CID"
        FontPath
"/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType"
        FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi"
        FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
EndSection

It seems that when I install any TrueType fonts, free or microsoft, the
setup fonts disappear.

I removed x-ttcidfont and the related directories and have the same
result.

I've spent 4 hours going through the readme and font .pdf fix and now I
have a system that has completely horrid fonts, and OpenOffice Writer
that still won't work.

The next step will be to search for any .ttf file that is on my system
and delete it and I'll report the results.

So far, 4 hours have resulted in the setup program being readable -- and
coincidentlly it is the nicest looking font that is on my system now.
None of the menus are in that particular font, and I have no idea what
font it is. It is also much more readable than it was before things
broke.

Before hand, the menus in OpenOffice were quite difficult to read.
