Hi, I've seen reports of this problem if there are no locales configured.
I see that you have LANG=C defined.

Please try two things:

1. Run /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice
Does that work?

2. If not, please try selecting an additional locale using 'dpkg-reconfigure
locales', such as en_US, and then try rerunning OOo.
