$ grep-available -e -FPackage "[A-Za-z]\.[A-Za-z]" -sPackage
Package: dep.pl
Package: lib-gnu.regexp-java
Package: lib-gnu.getopt-java
Package: mixer.app
Package: openoffice.org
Package: ld.so.preload-manager
Package: microcode.ctl
Package: wmppp.app
Package: login.app
Package: libwerken.xpath-java
There are some packages with dots in their names, but not very many. It
seems most packages use hyphens in the name and dots when a version number
is part of the name, for example, kernel-source-2.4.18.
On the other hand, the upstream name really does have a dot, not a hyphen.
