I forgot to mention that I also copied sversion.rc (or what ever it's
called) file.

After this every thing worked for me as myself.

However then I did a couple of extra steps I changed all the references
to /root to /home/rob in the config files I then got a dialog asking if
wanted to register no matter what i did it would crash. I ran it once
with sudo sucsesfully delt with the register dialog, closed oo, and now
it again works fine(as far as could tell) as me.

Nb I think that oo wont start up the first time you boot the computer
(but my computer dos'nt get turned off so I'm not sure), it flashes the
editor window on screen and then exits, however it then runs fine if you
start it up again. Weired.

Oh I'm still getting a realy ugly font for the widgets. I saw someone
else on the list had a similar problem and it was recommended to install
the open-office true type fonts. I did this and it made no difference.
Any other sugestions? Or perhaps I have to configure them?
