I just came back from my trip to North-America and had no time to look at
your code yet.  However, since you asking for advice, I hope that you are
aware of the previous discussion in the mailing list (e.g. [1], [2]) the
Wiki page [3] we started for doing the brainstorm.  Also of interest is the
solution found by the R Debian team to package the components of CRAN [4].
