Dear Maintainer(s),

As per https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2024/05/msg00425.html we
want to drop dependencies on system-log-daemon when they are set
simply because a package writes logs to syslogs, as they are no
longer necessary, since by default systemd-journald takes care of
persistent logs storage since Bookworm. This allows building minimal
images, without pulling in additional packages if they are not
requested.

It is still appropriate to maintain a dependency on system-log-daemon
if it is needed in order to read plain-test log files from /var/log/,
in case the package does not support reading directory from
systemd-journald through its APIs, but can only consume text-based
log files directly. If this is the case for this package, please
close this bug report as wontfix, but consider filing a wishlist RFE
upstream to add native journald support.

If this exception does not apply, please either drop the dependency
on system-log-daemon from this package, or at least downgrade it to
Suggests.

Thank you!
