Package: unison-all Version: 2.48+2 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, Stretch and Jessie ship with incompatible Union versions (2.40/2.32 vs. 2.48), making file sync impossible. IMHO, Debian releases should provide at least one Unison version present in the previous Debian release and unison-all should depend on this. This was the case in Jessie which contained Unison versions also present in Wheezy. Syncing between Jessie and Wheezy was possible. Unfortunately, the Unison versions in Stretch are not available in Jessie backports. Cheers Jan -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/6 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.utf8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages unison-all depends on: ii unison 2.48.3-1 unison-all recommends no packages. unison-all suggests no packages. -- no debconf information

Unfortunately, the Unison versions in Stretch are not available in Jessie backports.Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide in Stretch a version of Unison that is interoperable with a version of Jessie, because of a change in the OCaml compiler: any version of Unison compiled with the version of OCaml in Stretch is incompatible with the same version of Unison compiled with the version of OCaml in Jessie.-- Stéphane
