The best path ATM seems what has been outlined by Markus Mottl on the
caml list: encoding the fact that the stuff is little endian and to the
conversion back and forth on big endian machine at serialization and
deserialization time. I've asked Markus (still on the mailing list, see
the "core has landed" thread) if they plan to release this in the next
release; I'm waiting for an answer.

Sure it is, but it need someone who does the patch. I've worked enough
on the whole stuff, and I'm fine for a while :) Maybe you are interested
in drafting a patch for bin-prot? IIRC you have experience with big
endian architectures ... Let us know if you are interested. I'm sure
upstream will welcome patches in the direction of big endian support.

Cheers.
