I got this during a recent upgrade:
Setting up cmigrep (1.4-3) ...
install/cmigrep: Handling install for emacsen flavor emacs21
While compiling deref-module-exp in file /usr/share/emacs21/site-lisp/cmigrep/cmigrep.el:
  ** exp called with 0 arguments, but requires 1
While compiling the end of the data in file /usr/share/emacs21/site-lisp/cmigrep/cmigrep.el:
  ** The following functions are not known to be defined:
    replace-in-string, line-number-at-pos, tooltip-show,
    looking-back
Wrote /usr/share/emacs21/site-lisp/cmigrep/cmigrep.elc
Done
