The problem is Ubuntu only does limited backports. Old versions
of Ubuntu are not updated. To solve this problem you MUST update
Ubuntu to either the most recent release or at least the LTS version
(LTS = Long Service Life).
Upgrading Ubuntu from newer versions is fully automated by update
manager but it downloads everything from the official (SLOW!)
Ubuntu repository .. and it downloads EVERYTHING. It takes hours,
even on a 1500MB ADSL connection to a fast server.
If you have an old version you have to update to the NEXT version
and then the next one in sequence. If you version is really old,
you're better off reinstalling from scratch.
The simplest and fastest alternative is to remove all your
Debian Ocaml packages and build it yourself from the tarball
or even from CVS. That's easy .. building all the libraries
yourself is a pain though.
Another alternative is to use GODI package manager,
that's usually very up to date, but I don't know if it has
the same set of libraries available as Debian.
