I believe that I have followed the practice recommended in autotools-dev; the
ia64-linux setting came from:
DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE ?= $(shell dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE)
and similarly for DEB_BUILD_GNU_TYPE. The configure script is generated prior
to upload; the included version was generated with autoconf 2.59.
I suspect that the problem is out-of-date autotools-dev on ia64, since on my
system the handling of ia64-* is done in config.sub and config.guess, which I
copy from /usr/share/misc at build time. Can you help me establish what
version is needed to build correctly?
