Are you sure it is not just the fact that /etc/magic is not present ?

Anyway, it installs fine on my setup, so i guess it may just be a
dependency problem or something such.

I just uploaded 3.06-8 which may fix the problem.

BTW, the arm autobuilders appear to be dead at the moment, and pboth
ocaml and postgreSQL are witing for an arm and mipsel build.
