You said that "libXXX" is good, I said the reverse. That's all. Well in fact this discussion seems to carry us nowhere, I've an opinion and you another one, few mails prove that no one of us can convince the other. > After all, I'm not a maintainer so I'm not a real problem for you ;-) False, if I tried till now to convince you with my argumentations is because you are a problem, you are the user here. Anyway I've tried to understand your points, but I think that the problem reside in the fact that you are an experienced OCaml user that (I guess) knows OCaml before debian, so you are looking for ocaml-hump package name like. My concerns are all about users that already know debian but that does not know OCaml yet. > PS : take a look at the ocaml-hump collection, > sorry the libhump-ocaml ... http://caml.inria.fr/hump.html > there are very few "libs" but much more "applications" with totally > different names, as you said **think bigger**, thus, only a few of > them will be catch in the libxxxx naming scheme... > Note again that, upstream, there is a (small) preference for names > like ocamlnet, ocamlre, ocamldap, ocamlmpi, ocamlpvm, ocamlcvs, > ocamlmake, > Strange isn'it ? No, perfectly reasonable, because people does not think bigger. In first times all want to evidence the fact that sw are written in OCaml (but the same applies for python and probably applied for perl and even C, but I'm not sure because at that time I'm playing with Basic on a C64). In future when we (hopely) will have thousand of sw written in OCaml, where is the need to embed a camel in the name? But again, this discussion probably should stop here, we better wait for opinion from someone else.
