The Debian Project, the team behind the free Debian operating system,
would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming Debian Day which
will take place on 7 July 2012 in the Aula Magna and Roberto Terán
auditoriums at the Universidad Centroamericana in Managua, Nicaragua as
the first day of Debian's annual conference.

During Debian Day, the Debian conference opens its doors to anyone
interested in finding out more about Debian and Free Software, inviting
enthusiasts, users, and developers to a full day of talks on several
subjects — such as Free Software in government and enterprise, and how
to get involved yourself — as well as a string of talks about the Debian
Project and operating system.

After the "Debian Day opening plenary session", during which Aura Lila
Gutierrez Tejada and Leandro Gómez will welcome attendees, the talks
that follow will include:

  * "Understanding Debian", by Bdale Garbee
  * "Debian: software libre y abierto en la sociedad actual" ("Debian: free and open software in today's society"), by Hector Oron
  * "Como colaborar con Debian" ("How to get involved in Debian"), by Aura Lila Gutierrez Tejada and Leandro Gómez
  * "Debian QA: una puerta de entrada al proyecto Debian" ("Debian QA: a way into the Debian project"), by Mònica Ramírez Arceda
  * "Mejorando Ubuntu desde Debian" ("Improving Ubuntu from Debian"), by José Ernesto Dávila Pantoja
  * "Sostenibilidad, Soberanía, Idoneidad y Democratización de las TIC en el Ministerio de Salud de El Salvador" ("Sustainability, sovereignty, suitability and democratisation of ITC in the Health Ministry of El Salvador"), by Carlos Juan Martín Pérez
  * "Linux Capabilities", by Luciano Bello
  * "Escuelas libres con DebianEdu" ("Free schools with DebianEdu"), by Rafael Ernesto Rivas Méndez and Norman Garcia Aguilar
  * "Debian Nicaragua tras bastidores" ("Debian Nicaragua behind the scenes"), by Adolfo Jurgen Fitoria Escobar
  * "Traducción de Debian al español" ("Translating Debian to Spanish"), by José Fernando Castañeda Estrada
  * "Yota One y GNU/Linux" ("Yota One and GNU/Linux"), by Roberto Bravo

For those who are interested to learn more, there will be some
workshops:

  * "Primeros Pasos en Debian" ("First steps with Debian"), by René Mauricio Mayorga and Roger Julian Orellana Muñoz
  * "Sistemas de control de versiones" ("Version control systems"), by Felix Delattre

Debian Day is free of charge and is open to everybody interested in Free
Software. More information about it, and a complete schedule, can be
