The December 2000 issue of Dr. Dobb's Journal contains an article entitled
'Inside Debian Hurd' written by Jerry Epplin. The article is quite
comprehensive and includes a good general overview of why the Hurd exists, a
microkernel architecture overview, and look at the Mach microkernel and Hurd
servers.
