Applicant background: At the time of writing, I am a student about to start my second year of a Computer Science degree in the UK. I only started using GNU/Linux a few years ago, but due to recommendations from others, I started using Debian immediately. I do quite a bit of packaging nowadays and I am part of several packaging groups, including the Debian Maemo team, the Debian Telepathy team, and all of the SynCE stack. I work on upstream projects too, including parts of the Telepathy stack, Bongo and SynCE. I package, or am involved in packaging, all of the projects I work on upstream. I administer several Debian public servers, including my simple personal VPS for myself, several machines around my university accommodation and home, and also my university computing society's machine. I participated in the Google Summer of Code this year, under the Debian mentoring organisation, on the debexpo project. debexpo's primary purpose is as a replacement for the code behind the mentors.debian.net service. However, it has been designed to be as portable as possible. I am continuing to work on this project after the summer, including running it in production Google search for "Jonny Lamb" shows lots of involvement in various free software projects. 2. Philosophy and Procedures ----------------------------- Jonny has a good understanding of Debians Philosophy and Procedures. He answered my Questions about Social Contract, DFSG, BTS etc. in a good way. 3. Tasks and Skills ------------------- Jonny is the maintainer or comaintainer of too many packages to list here, including entire suites like Hildon desktop, Telepathy and SynCE. DDPO (http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=jonnylamb@jonnylamb.com&comaint=yes) shows lots of packages, almost bug free. He answered my questions regarding T&S without problems. 4. Recommendation ----------------- I strongly to accept him as a Debian Developer.
