mips/mipsel also have the kernel upgrade issue, so...  Perhaps the following
recipe will work?

- edit sources.list to point to sarge
- disable pinning
- apt-get install kernel-image-2.4.27-foo
- reboot
- apt-get install doc-base
- apt-get install aptitude dpkg perl
  [hmm, this last doesn't seem to be part of the recommended path on the
   website currently?]
- aptitude -f --with-recommends dist-upgrade
