I already told you :-) Whole command should read:
cvs -d :pserver:cvs@ftp.linux-mips.org:/home/cvs login
(passwd is cvs)
cvs -d :pserver:cvs@ftp.linux-mips.org:/home/cvs co -r linux_2_4 linux
