regarding the tests, I *think* meson detects network and tries to use
it, as
If there is no network (like in pbuilder / sbuild), it doesn't

Nethertheless, it looks fine now, so I'll upload it in a minute; it will
have to go through NEW, so it might take a while until is reviewed and
accepted by the ftp team.
