Hi, Quoting Jakub Wilk (2015-09-01 12:22:22) > See #748465. Some people abuse debian/copyright for excluding files for > reasons unrelated to DFSG... so am I for my packages. The simple reason: just running "uscan" to check, download and repack upstream sources is just too simple and convenient if compared with putting a custom repack script into my package. So far I did not see another declarative way to specify paths to be excluded from my upstream tarball automatically upon download. > My recommendation is to never use Files-Excluded. What is your recommendation then? > It's a broken design. I would argue: so is the whole format of debian/watch. It would've been a much better idea to have this file in deb822 format so that it would be easily extensible. In that case we could now just add the Files-Excluded field to debian/watch and be done with it. Surely, in theory you could also make another "opts" argument for uscan but putting path wildcards in the current debian/watch format will surely not be pretty... cheers, josch
