RFS: MaxDB packages

Hi,

I have created Debian packages of release 7.5.00 of the MaxDB by MySQL database system (formerly SAP DB) and am looking for a sponsor to upload them.

The packages are available from ftp://ftp.charade-db.org/pub/charade-db/debian/unstable

MaxDB is a industrial strength database system featuring transactions, views, db-procedures. It is being used in production for SAP R/3 systems. More information on MaxDB can be found at http://www.mysql.com/maxdb

MaxDB is licensed under the GPL.

A request for MaxDB packages was already filed in 2001, as you can see here http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=88988

Currently I have created packages from 4 sources:

- since MaxDB has its own build environment there is a maxdb-buildtools package
- almost all binary packages are created from the maxdb source-package
- the MaxDB documentation, which is in HTML format is packed from maxdb-doc
- the Python interfaces for MaxDB for Python versions 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 are currently only available in binary form from www.mysql.com and there is a simple package wrapped around the original binary distribution; the Python bindings for Python v1.5 are built from the sources in the maxdb source-package though; in future (upstream) releases of MaxDB the Python bindings for all Python versions should be built directly from the sources

The packages are probably not all complete in the sense that there could be even more binary packages be built from the sources. But I am at a point where I think that it doesn't make any sense to add package by package without getting any feedback/bug reports on the already existing ones. That said, I believe that the packages built so far are in a state where they should work as advertised :)

I hope to find someone who is interested and willing to upload those packages.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Martin.
