Good. Testers, please use Piotr's version of latex-xft-fonts, it's
better. (Uses defoma properly, puts the fonts in a better place, and is
more accurate about the font licenses.)

Please consider the attached patch to debian/packages, which (apart from
typo fixes) Suggests chktex (closes: #135294) and implements a compromise
version of switching to lyx-qt by default. Proposed changelog entry:

  * The lyx meta-package now Depends on lyx-xforms | lyx-qt, so that apt-get
    upgrade follows the Principle of Least Astonishment. However, it now
    also Recommends lyx-qt for the benefit of interactive upgrades and new
    installs. Altered Piotr's note regarding the new Qt frontend (Qt)
    accordingly, closes: #188008, #216439

I had build problems at first, which were fixed by changing
    test -f xfonts/PSres.upr &&
to
    test '!' -f xfonts/PSres.upr ||
in line 62 of lib/Makefile.ac (and line 555 of lib/Makefile.in).

Also, removing debian/yada and running yada rebuild (yada 0.25) fixes a
permissions problem with building under pbuilder.

Once we have performed at least minimal testing, we can start by closing
the following bugs:

  * Assuming this build is stable (i. e., starts cleanly, no stderr msgs,
    handles window resize and cut/paste, and renders to DVI and PDF given a
    document with embedded LaTeX and EPS figures) on i386 and powerpc,
    I propose that it closes: #200844, #135809, #204440, #214425, #69483,
    #72425, #86730, #93033, #103715, #130588, #133986, #143618, #146304,
    #177562, #183651, #189376, #193645, #209322, #211666, #215064, #220283,
    #87822, #141421
  * Providing 1.3.3 to unstable closes: #212887, #213778, #40572, #196032
  * Suggesting chktex closes: #135294
  * The lyx meta-package Depends on tetex-extra (LaTeX), closes: #187714

Perhaps you could check with the reporter of Bug #200844 (crash on startup
on powerpc) to see if it is cleared up by 1.3.3. I will look at the other
RC bug (a backwards compatibility issue) as soon as I finish installing
sid.
