I did not look at your package, but I think downgrading the standard because
you do not want to provide Build-Depends is not very nice. Build-Depends are
there to make auto-compiling easier, not to torture the maintainer of a
package. Just add a Build-Depends: debhelper line to your control file and
add all other packages you need additionaly to build-essential packages.
See the build-essential package and my short notice on build-depends:
http://www.debian.org/~cts/Build-Depends
This is written with the eyes of a porter, may not be totally correct, but
this describes what I, as a porter, want from Build-Depends. If you want
your package to be easily buildable on other arches as well, please provide
Build-Depends.
Thanks,
Christian
