As I wrote yesterday[1] these packages are of interest

      pyscanfcs
      raxml
      macs

at least according to popcon.  Regarding chemestry may be

      autodock-vina 

fits her interest a bit more.  There is also jmol but that's probably
no beginner task.  I'd recommend to post the package she wants to work
on here to make sure we get no race condition.

PS: In general I'd repeat my recommendation to to run the SQL query[2]
to get a list of packages of the Debian Med team ordered by popcon
specifying whether the package has a test or not and also providing
information whether its a graphical tool (where a test might be hard to
write) or not.  I wrote this script to make a sensible choice for what
package it makes the most sense to write a test.
