Well, Robert is upstream author and thus perhaps has not really seen
a need for a watch file. :) On the other hand watch files are more
than a tool for the maintainer himself and thus I agree that regarding
group maintainance and other package tracking tools a watch file makes
sense anyway.
I agree also with your other hints.
