I have bisected the problem in the itstool git tree, as detailed on this github issue: https://github.com/itstool/itstool/issues/36 Trying an earlier itstool version was suggested on another Mate bug report: https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-utils/issues/210 So what's next? reassign this bug to itstool? /Lars
