Bug#915232: mate-power-manager: please add elogind as alternative dependency
Package: mate-power-manager
Version: 1.20.2-1
Severity: wishlist
Hi!
Currently, mate-power-manager has the following dependency:
systemd | consolekit
please change it to:
systemd | elogind | consolekit
to allow installing and running Mate on non-systemd Linux.
I have no idea about consolekit: it has just been removed, despite being the
only option on hurd and kfreebsd -- so the removal might or might not be an
omission. For this reason, I wouldn't be hasty here -- but I have no clue
about non-Linux.
On Linux, until this week, you had to recompile a bunch of packages against
consolekit if you wanted a desktop system without a certain pid 1 issue.
But if you change this single dependency (and more, but those are hacked
around by libpam-elogind-compat from experimental), you can run pure Debian
once again.
This machine is not a laptop so I could test only suspend and cpufreq, but
these work fine.
Meow!
