LTS Team Meeting Notes - 2026-04-23

Hello,

Here are the notes from today's meeting.

As usual, in case you would like to see the full agenda, it is available
at: https://pad.riseup.net/p/lts-meeting-agenda

Agenda:
	- Roll call
	- New or departing team members: none this month
	- Action item review:
        - Action: (carried over from last month) Follow-up to ML and
          Andreas concerning upload of nvidia-graphics-drivers
			- Assignee: Santiago & Tobi
			- Result: no progress, TODO: ping Andreas
        - Action: (carried over from last month) Start a discussion
about debian-security-support being installed by default -
Utkarsh to file a bug to discuss this publicly.
			- Assignee: jbicha / utkarsh
			- Result: assignees not present
			- (utkarsh) please carry over.
        - Action: Document that is currently possible to use tag-based
          scheduling, reaching out to admins
			- Assignee: Santiago
            - Result: MR pending, figuring out how to get changes into
the service with Debusine team and IT team
              https://salsa.debian.org/lts-team/lts-team.pages.debian.net/-/merge_requests/32
	- New action items
		- (recorded during this meeting)
            - See the tag-based scheduling above, and the next item
              about the entry in d/changelog.
	- LTS: Introduction line for d/changelog, which one is "best"? (arnaudr)
		- "Non-maintainer upload by the LTS Security Team." (from dch --lts), or
		- "Non-maintainer upload by the LTS Team." (<- preference of the meeting)
		- (wondering if the first one blurs the line with security team)
        - For stable/oldstable uploads, would you also use the same
intro line, ie. mention the LTS team, or just "Non-maintainer
          upload"?
            - Mentioning the LTS team in (old)stable upload could be
used as LTS advertising (both pro and contra argument at
              the same time).
        - Question: Should ELTS uploads use ELTS Team instead? Probably
          no, just "LTS Team" everywhere.
		- Action: slyon to reach agreement and document the result
	- AOB
		- Primary communication channel with the secteam: email (santiago)
		- 2-bus factor for some coordination tasks (santiago):
			- Monthly report: with Thorsten
			- Weekly review of the work queue: with Kanashiro
			- Monthly meeting: looking for volunteers
				- Proposal: two-month turns chairing an irc+jisti meeting, then switch
        - Looking for nghttp2 reviewers (slyon)
			- bullseye: https://salsa.debian.org/lts-team/packages/nghttp2/-/merge_requests/1
(also !2 for buster & !3 for stretch)
			- Volunteer: rouca
		- Looking for help with bind9 (rouca) -> Santiago
        - How much is security-tracker git fetch performance affecting
          contributors?
			- Jochen suggests `--filter=tree:0` or `--filter=blob:none`
			- Emilio fixed the diff in the gitlab web ui
			- Santiago experienced high bandwidth usage
			- rouca suggests changing the storage format via a gsoc project
            - Helmut: One can still compress the tracker into less than
              1GB with a big machine
    - Next meeting: 2026-05-28 14:00 UTC [Location: #debian-lts on IRC]
