Documentation recap - October
Hi,
As promised, here's a little recap of what happened on the public
documentation last month in October:
- Team documentation big clean-up/revamp
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/
This should make it easier to find information.
- clear top-level structure
- split the massive Development page to new Front Desk and CVE
Triage separate pages
- consolidate DLA workflow information from other sources
- clean-up stale/orphan pages
- Technical Workflows (new)
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/technical-workflows.html
LTS Contributors work with different tools and ways to organize,
with pros and cons, sometimes clashing in the documentation.
This new page consolidates and compares these technical approaches,
independently of the common DLA workflow.
- Development within target VM vs. in-host with volatile VMs
- LTS/ELTS-specific notes and trick for tools like sbuild,
git-buildpackage, chdist, debvm, ansible, incus, etc.
- Creating a clean source package archive for upload
- TestSuites
- QEMU: how to test NBD (Network Block Device) with QEMU,
reference QEMU user emulation
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/wiki/TestSuites/qemu.html
- GIMP (new): ASan build specifics, quick debug for plug-ins,
double-build work-arounds
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/wiki/TestSuites/gimp.html
- Code Sanitizers: reference one-liner shortcut
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS='sanitize=+address'
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/howtos/lts-Development-Asan.html
- erlang: add missing configuration bits required for other test cases
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/wiki/TestSuites/erlang.html
- ARM development/debug
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/howtos/arm-debug.html
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/howtos/arm-vm.html
Update base instructions for Raspberry Pi OS bookworm->trixie
Move generic debvm and sbuild info to Technical Workflows above
Further details on VM kernels and graphic support, and piuparts
- Git workflows: mention 'push -o ci.skip' to skip CI
https://lts-team.pages.debian.net/git-workflow-lts.html
- Debian Wiki
- LTS: reference user pages at lts-team.debian.net
https://wiki.debian.org/LTS
Note: maybe we should consolidate user-oriented pages
at the Debian wiki instead
- sbuild (non-LTS): apt-cacher-ng: typos/rephrase
https://wiki.debian.org/sbuild?action=diff&rev2=327&rev1=326
Cheers!
Sylvain
