(E)LTS report for October 2025

I've worked during October 2025 on the below listed packages, for
Freexian LTS/ELTS [1]

nvidia-graphics-drivers
=======================

(Reached out to the nvidia-graphics drivers maintainer and currently
waiting for updated packages, as in the meantime the 535 series has been
updated fixing another issue. The upload to update
nvidia-graphics-driver and the related packages will likely happen in
November)

openstack: watcher and nova
===========================

I was looking into watcher and nova, but got stuck on the packages. I've
reached out to the maintainer and got information back how to handle
the updates, but I still need to assess this information properly and
follow up on the response.

firmware-nonfree
================

We've discussed how to tackle how to update firmware on LTS and ELTS and
drafted a plan in regards, e.g how to better handle them in respect to
the different supported (E)LTS kernels.

log4cxx
=======

I've asked to reviewed log4cxx' update this month, for DLA-4322-1.

intel-microcode
===============

Coordinating with the security-team, after DSA 6030-1 had been released,
I've backported the microcode updates for LTS (DLA-4347-1) and ELTS
(ELA-1560-1).
For ELTS there was a challenge with the new debusine based workflow,
as the workflow did not have contrib enabled, therefore a
build dependency could not been fulfiled. I've spent some time
understanding the issue and tried to work around them.
However this needed fixes on freexian's infrastructure. It got
eventually fixed by helmut enabling contrib/non-free.
