Re: Migration from Debian 11 to 12

Hello Ricardo,

I would like help to complete the migration from Debian 11 to Debian 12.

I ran the migration procedure using the attached /etc/apt/sources.list file.

In Linux version 6.1.0-30-amd64, the Wi-Fi network card is no longer recognized!

I booted with version 5.10.0-33-amd64 and tried to update the system.

The error returned:

“Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 6.1.0-30-amd64 (x86_64)

Consult /var/lib/dkms/rtl8821CU/5.4.1/build/make.log for more information.”

In other words, the driver for the rtl8821CU card was not updated.

Attached are the files:

1) /etc/apt/sources.list

2) até até.txt – commands executed for update

3) /var/lib/dkms/rtl8821CU/5.4.1/build/make.log – error log

I believe you installed a WiFi driver module (rtl8821cu) manually.

You need to find a version that is compatible with the new 6.x kernel series. I don't think that this module was provided by Debian so we can't help much here.

Note that this is the LTS support list, i.e. support for Debian 11 bullseye. For Debian 12 bookworm support, see https://www.debian.org/support
