Bug#438202: lintian: detect useless windows thumbnail databases (thumbs.db)

Package: lintian
Version: 1.23.34
Severity: wishlist

Please add a check to search the .deb for windows thumbnail databases.
These are generally useless in Debian binary packages and just take up
space. They will be named "Thumbs.db" (or any variation in case) and
file reports that they are "Microsoft Office Document". The may get
compressed by dh_compress. The following files exist in the archive:

album /usr/share/album/themes/Orange/Thumbs.db
b2evolution /usr/share/b2evolution/skins/natural_pink/rsc/img/Thumbs.db
libnunit-doc /usr/share/doc/nunit/html/img/Thumbs.db.gz
perlprimer-doc /usr/share/doc/perlprimer/tutorial_files/Thumbs.db.gz
texlive-latex-extra /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/latex/pdfwin/Thumbs.db.gz
texlive-latex-extra /usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra/latex/pdfwin/Thumbs.db.gz
egroupware-mydms /usr/share/egroupware/mydms/templates/default/images/Thumbs.db
egroupware-mydms /usr/share/egroupware/mydms/templates/default/images/buttons/Thumbs.db
egroupware-mydms /usr/share/egroupware/mydms/templates/default/images/menu/Thumbs.db
egroupware-mydms /usr/share/egroupware/mydms/templates/default/images/treeview/Thumbs.db
blockattack /usr/share/games/blockattack/gfx/Thumbs.db
bos /usr/share/games/stratagus/bos/graphics/elites/buildings/Thumbs.db
whichwayisup /usr/share/games/whichwayisup/data/pictures/Thumbs.db
knowledgeroot /usr/share/knowledgeroot/system/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/_template/images/Thumbs.db
libauthen-captcha-perl /usr/share/perl5/Authen/Captcha/images/Thumbs.db
serendipity /usr/share/serendipity/www/templates/contest/admin/img/Thumbs.db
serendipity /usr/share/serendipity/www/templates/contest/img/Thumbs.db
tomcat5.5-admin /usr/share/tomcat5.5/server/webapps/admin/images/Thumbs.db
torrentflux /usr/share/torrentflux/www/themes/mape/images/Thumbs.db

FYI, the vinetto package can decode them. Not sure if the check should
be for just the binary or source packages too. Even vinetto doesn't have
any in it, so I'd say source packages shouldn't contain them either.
