Not necessarily. Consider what would occur if the author spammed the
known universe requesting changes.

Think Sting and "Message in a Bottle" for one possible method where a
person on a desert island could receive a request to which they could
not respond.

[Frankly, I find the current name for the desert island test rather
descriptive... but then again, I like The Far Side.]
