Sadly, it is the FSF who disregard the meaning of "software" and support proprietary publishers in their attempt to redefine "software" as a synonym for "programs". Regardless of how "useful" it is to adopt non-free works and prop up proprietary publishers in the short term, it will be less useful overall and not help fulfil this project's goals. This debate was previously had over netscape, I believe.
