"Copyright Abandoned" on xmysqladmin

Hi,

I noticed something while checking on the xmysqladmin license.

The .lsm file says it is GPLed. But the README (there is no seperate
copyright or license file) says:

*************************************************************************
           xMySQLadmin, originally by Gilbert Therrien

Copyright Abandoned 1998 by Gilbert Therrien and TCX DataKonsult AB
This file is public domain and comes with NO WARRANTY of any kind
*************************************************************************

Looks like the copyright file in the Debian package is an old version
and void.

What does "Copyright Abandoned" mean in the leagal context?

If this makes xmysqladmin public domain, then bug 39546 (source must
be included, modification not explicitly allowed) can be closed, no?

Ciao,
	Martin
