Look for the linux-thinkpad mailing list archives and
http://thinkwiki.org for more information.  IIRC, there have been some
issues raised with the T42p and the radeon X11 driver.  Luckily I have
no problems here on a T42 with Xorg 6.9.0 and 3D.
