If you do not feel comfortable installing Debian, you should try to useone of the Live-CDs, like Knoppix, Gnoppix or Morphix, and install fromthem onto harddrive. Knoppix is a mix of Debian testing and unstable,Gnoppix is based on Debian stable with backports, Morphix is done withDebian unstable.

Your choice.
