Hi Magne,
for tips how to check what type of infrared controller is built into
the machine, see the InfraRed-HOWTO http://mobilix.org/howtos.html
Anyway you should try to start with SIR first and _not_ with
dedicated chipset support for IrDA (iaw FIR).
