Thanks to all who dropped a note about this.  Last night, in the early hours, 
I started.  Cut off 2GB, then another, then another, and now am finished!  
Windoz-xp lives (is this really a good thing?). . .

Thanks again.  Partition Magic 7.0 was able to do as claimed.
