ohhh....you don't want to do that :)

what I would recommend you do (if possible) is to use the Debian CD (if
you have it) and boot straight off that (making sure the BIOS has been set
to boot from the cd, I recommend floppy->cdrom->harddisk sequence).

If this is impossible, try using 'rawrite2' the dos utility to put the
disk images rescue.bin and root.bin onto floppy disks and boot off the
rescue disk. It will then ask for you to put in the root disk, and then
you will be away.

I'm a little unsure why you already have base2_2 combined (from the
original 12 or so disk images) and the driver's image already assembled,
however if I remember and you go through the process of creating ext2
partitions and mounting them, if you then press Ctrl-Alt-F2 you will get a
text console where you will be able to use tar to extract the base2_2 and
drivers files in the correct place.

Now I am assuming you know about UNIX. I would highly recommend using the
bootable CD, you should be able to pick up the entire Debian binary CD's
for about $10 and it helps to have them in tricky situations :)

If you still are unsure there is a lot of documentation on a hundred and
one ways of installing debian on you machine from parallel cables to zip
disks and floppys :)

good luck, if you need any more help do ask

Alex

BTW I recommend you have a look at http://www.betips.net/etc/evilmail.html
