Thinkpad T20 & Woody's XFree 4

Hi there,

I am on potato (2.2r3) with my T20, thus XFree 3.3.6. Runs OK with the S3
Savage IX8 graphic card of this machine.
But this card is currently unsupported by some releases of XFree 4, see

Last time I gave a try to woody, no luck with X, and not so easy and fun
to downgrade.
Anybody with knowledge or experience to share on this ?
