Re: Knoppix'S days over?

As I've explained, I'm not satisfied with any installable Linux
Live-CD at the present time, not any Linux distro, I would say. So I
really hope Knoppix installs neatly.
Knoppix 'old' installer (0.3.19.20) is not so bad. I still use it in my
remasterings and doing followins steps hd installed version is almost
perfect:
- install Grub to partition and use your old Grub (e.g. I'm using Suse's
nice looking Grub) if you have other Linux versions in your hard disk
- remove etc/rcS.d/S00knoppix-hd-autoconfig
- change 'rw' to 'ro' at Grub's boot line (using jfs filesystem, hd
installed version don't boot if 'rw')
- remove mkdesktophdicons-knoppix package
- run 'dpkg-reconfigure hal dbus'
- remove unneeded icons from desktop and don't let unmounted devices be
seen in destktop from KDE's desktop settings
- run 'aptitude update'
- run 'aptitude safe-upgrade' or 'aptitude full-upgrade' if you have new
aptitude's version
- download new kernel from Debian's repository or use my kernel ;)
That's All Folks!
